Composable commerce vs. full-stack-e-commerce

Granted: Technologies – they’re a dime a dozen. So choosing one can be difficult. But as is the case in many other areas, some megatrends are of immense importance when it comes to technology selection and e-commerce consulting. In this context, the following developments are particularly worth mentioning:

  • composable commerce
  • ceadless e-commerce 
  • cicroservices-based commerce
  • the general separation between the e-commerce frontend (presentation in the browser) and the e-commerce backend (system-related functionalities)

In contrast to classic out-of-the-box solutions and integrated store systems, these new approaches use configurable APIs to communicate between the frontend and the backend. The goal is a lean, dynamic and agile system architecture that can be quickly adapted to new requirements.

Synonyms for this system architecture are MACH (for microservices, APIs, cloud and headless) and JAMstack (JavaScript, APIs and markup). On this basis, even the most complex e-commerce scenarios can be integrated, maintaining a lean frontend.
