Derivatives Trading

Practical automation for day-to-day derivatives operations

valantic FSA’s sophisticated workflow automation software simplifies new product creation, and pricing, quoting and product lifecycle management. Integrated data handling, control mechanisms and downstream connectivity reduces error rates, improves time to market and lowers total cost of ownership.

Derivatives trading introduces particularly high operational complexity in terms of the frequency of product issuance, large instrument universes and dynamic pricing requirements. Today’s derivatives workflows are shaped increasingly by trading electronification, margin and collateral complexities, clearing obligations and risk controls.

The operational challenge is not just about efficient trade execution. As products, venues and execution models proliferate, it’s all about efficient data sourcing, consistent pricing logic and clean trade capture.

Connectivity

Single workflow layer across products, venues and execution styles (RFQ, chat, voice)

Scalability

Support more products, venues and structures, and different trading models,  without re-engineering core workflows

Control

Embed checks, limits and traceability into the complete derivatives lifecycle

Streamlined pricing,
trading & quoting

valantic FSA’s iQderivatives solution streamlines and simplifies derivatives pricing, trading and quoting. Real-time data from external sources – exchanges, platforms and datafeeds – e.g Xetra, Eurex and Refinitiv (LSEG) – is captured within automated workflows connecting internal bank applications, managed within a client-configurable UI.

Open system architecture (icubic) supports fast, simple integration with legacy techstacks and infrastructures. Data from enterprise bank applications can be integrated with external data sources (market and reference data) to optimise pricing, quoting and trading decisions (timing and risk). iQderivatives software operates in conjunction with valantic FSA’s iMarket for RFQ functionality; and iSettle for post-trade workflow automation.

Flexible, scalable & future-ready

Flexible, scalable technology and tools support fast time to market, product diversity and performance. iQderivatives incorporates multiple, configurable control tools and functions including:

  • Automation of event-driven quote size adjustments
  • Support for all product types (current and new)
  • Comprehensive spread logic revision
  • Complex filtering for instrument tables
  • Data maintenance automation e.g. future rollovers
  • Multiple, optional performance optimisations

Reduced complexity, greater transparency

iQderivatives removes complexity and time delay from new issue creation: Users can quickly and easily create new products, allocate security identification codes, and export the data to other processes.  The defining parameters for calculating options and certificate prices are ‘live’ prices for underlying instruments, imported from multiple data sources throughout the day.

iQderivatives automates data capture from multiple sources and adjusts individual prices intelligently in line with exchange timetables. Users can determine the time periods in which prices should be captured from individual data sources for specific underlying instruments. Associated quotes (by instrument/market) can be managed individually and in groups. A ‘panic button’ function enables users to set selection criteria to trigger the rapid entry or deletion of quotes, including for multiple instruments simultaneously.

Fully automated derivatives trading workflow

  • Supports multiple trading models and strategies:
  • RFQ negotiation and routing across liquidity pools and counterparties
  • Pricing and quote management for structured and vanilla derivatives
  • Trade capture and enrichment integrated with downstream operations
  • Full integration with risk, pre- and post-trade and reporting platforms (internal/external)
