Taking the important, necessary step into the future on a strong foundation – that was precisely the spirit of Pimcore Inspire 2025. In his as always entertaining keynote speech, Dietmar Rietsch presented the motto “Pimcore Homecoming” and set the framework for the entire conference: Pimcore is returning to its roots, focusing on its strengths and “coming home”. Above all, the consistent effort to redefine and revolutionize product data and customer experiences is at the forefront. As the Pimcore Global Partner, we were on site in large numbers and in a visually striking way, not only to experience innovative new features, but also to enter into an exchange with inspiring industry colleagues.

PXM as an overarching aspect

At the heart of the event was the major topic of Product Experience Management (PXM) – a concept that brings together all previous disciplines such as PIM, MDM, DAM, CDP, DXP and eCommerce under one roof. Pimcore has established itself as a pioneer in the PXM field and impressively demonstrates how consistent, contextual and precise product information can contribute to sustainable sales growth. According to the Gartner Research Institute, the number of providers in the PXM framework will even double by 2027 – a clear signal of the increasing demand for integrated, scalable solutions in the digital age, which we are already addressing with our own expertise in the field of PXM.

“Gartner’s presentation on PXM was very inspiring, especially the statement that large companies with horizontal and vertical silos have the most difficulty with implementation. Gartner therefore sees the focus on PXM in the upper midmarket.”

Pimcore Studio the revolution in user experience

One of the biggest attractions of the conference was the announcement of Pimcore Studio. This intuitive user interface revolutionizes the management of data and enables the creation of outstanding customer experiences. The user-friendly and advanced tools presented here enable companies to manage data centrally while meeting the highest standards of security and efficiency. This toolset is clear proof that Pimcore is not only technologically groundbreaking, but also puts people at the center.

New license model – a step into the commercial future

With a view to the further development of the product, Pimcore announced a new license model. In the future, Pimcore will fully rely on commercial licenses and phase out the open source (GPLV3) version. There are two main editions:

Professional Edition:

  • Commercial license that is not open source
  • Increased security and extended functions
  • Regular updates and comprehensive support

Enterprise Edition:

  • Commercial license with particularly high security standards
  • More performance, extended functions and regular updates
  • Additional 15 extensions and long-term support

This realignment underlines Pimcore’s intention to offer its partners and customers a future-proof, scalable platform that meets the constantly growing demands of the digital age.

“With the new license models, Pimcore shows clear economic foresight and yet I notice that technology and innovation are still at the center the tech stack remains unique and consistently further developed.”

Tech talks and practical insights

The conference also offered a variety of tech talks, insights, discussion panels and use cases that provided a look behind the scenes of digitalization. A special highlight was the masterclass by valantic & BORA. Gabriel Perkmann from BORA and Sebastian Dietrich impressively demonstrated how BORA implemented a central platform for product experience management with the help of valantic and the Pimcore Enterprise Edition. The transformation included the integration of PIM, DAM and DXP and aimed to overcome fragmented structures, redundant data and manual processes.

The result: a centralized, flexible system that enables excellent data quality, a cross-channel output approach and personalized storytelling formats – in short, a unified customer experience.

Looking into the future

Also on the agenda were enhancements to Master Data Management 2.0, the development of customer data platforms and AI-supported content optimization via the Pimcore Co-Pilot. The aim of these initiatives is to use a scalable architecture to create genuine product experiences that meet the constantly growing demands of customers.

Networking, exchange and legendary aftershow

As the Pimcore Global Partner, it was a special highlight for us to be on site with colleagues from Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the Netherlands from the areas of management, project owners, full-stack developers and team leads to exchange ideas, maintain contacts and hold important discussions. The lively exchange between experts was finally crowned at the legendary after-show party in the Stiegl Brauwelt – an inspiring evening that rounded off the event perfectly.

Conclusion

Pimcore Inspire 2025 has once again shown that innovation and tradition can go hand in hand. As “Pimcore Homecoming”, Pimcore is returning to its roots in order to bundle all its strengths and at the same time drive forward groundbreaking innovations. Pimcore – supported by strong partners such as valantic – offers a solid foundation for all those who want to move towards a digitalized, product-centric future. We look forward to continuing this exciting journey together with our partners and customers in the future.
