Get to know uswaySCI (Smart Cloud Interface) is valantic’s SAP-certified interface that bidirectionally connects SAP S/4HANA in public cloud, private cloud, and on-premise environments with third-party systems. It uses SAP-released APIs, makes no modifications to the standard, and runs directly in the SAP system. SAP S/4HANA remains the system of record. IT and SAP teams run one interface instead of multiple point solutions.
waySCI: SAP integration for third-party systems
waySCI (Smart Cloud Interface) is valantic’s SAP-certified interface that connects SAP S/4HANA bidirectionally with third-party systems.
One interface for SAP S/4HANA: waySCI bidirectionally connects SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, and SAP S/4HANA on-premise with third-party systems.
Clean core Level A: waySCI uses only released CDS views, RAP business objects, RAP business events, and OData V4 services based on the ABAP Cloud model. The SAP standard remains unchanged.
Runs in the SAP system: By default, waySCI operates as an on-stack extension directly in SAP S/4HANA, with no additional platform and no data duplication.
Built for high data volumes: After the initial full load, waySCI transfers only changed data (delta or net change), either scheduled or event-driven.
Standard integration for waySuite: waySCI synchronizes master data, orders, and confirmations between SAP S/4HANA and APS waySuite. Additional third-party systems can be connected via wayConnect.NET.
Challenges for IT leaders, SAP owners, and planning teams
Planning systems, procurement platforms, collaboration tools, AI services: every application running alongside SAP S/4HANA needs current data from the ERP system and sends results back. Whether this runs reliably and cost-effectively depends on the interface.
Three layers, one end-to-end connection
Strictly standard
waySCI uses only SAP-released interfaces and makes no modifications. Your system keeps a clean core and stays upgrade-ready.
Up and running fast
Preconfigured standard APIs speed up implementation and reduce effort.
One interface for everything
A single interface covers multiple third-party systems instead of many point solutions. You have one point of contact for integration and operations.
Built for high data volumes
Large data volumes are processed efficiently. After the initial load, delta management transfers only changed data.
Extensible to your needs
Add your own extensions at any time while keeping your clean core intact.
Predictable and future-proof
Release compatibility and updates are included in the subscription, making costs easy to plan.

waySCI is the standard integration between APS waySuite and SAP S/4HANA. SAP remains the system for orders, materials, costing, and master data. waySuite handles capacity, sequence, and project planning and writes the results back to SAP. This avoids both duplicate data maintenance and a second data set.
From SAP S/4HANA to waySuite
Material and work center master data, routings, bills of materials, planned and production orders, purchase orders, sales orders, project structures, inventory, confirmations
From waySuite to SAP S/4HANA
Optimized dates, sequences, capacity assignments, planned order changes, rescheduling proposals

valantic
waySCI (Smart Cloud Interface) is an SAP-certified interface developed by valantic that bidirectionally connects SAP S/4HANA with third-party systems. It runs as an on-stack extension directly in the SAP system, uses only SAP-released APIs, and meets clean core Level A. waySCI is the standard integration between valantic’s APS software waySuite and SAP S/4HANA, and it can connect additional third-party systems.
waySCI supports three system variants:
In its clean core model, SAP classifies extensions into levels. Level A means an extension uses only SAP-released interfaces and extension points and is built according to the ABAP Cloud model. waySCI accesses SAP through released CDS views, RAP business objects, RAP business events, and OData V4 services and doesn’t change the standard. This keeps release upgrades predictable.
No. By default, waySCI runs directly in SAP S/4HANA, with no additional platform and no data replication. If SAP Business AI Platform, which includes the capabilities of SAP BTP, is a better fit for your IT strategy, waySCI can run there as well.
During initial setup or when a planning environment is rebuilt, waySCI transfers all relevant data (full load). In ongoing operations, only records that have been created, changed, or deleted since the last synchronization are transferred (delta load or net change). Transfers are scheduled or event-driven via RAP business events.
Applications are connected via valantic’s wayConnect.NET connector. Typical examples include APS and planning systems such as waySuite, procurement platforms, collaboration software, and AI services for master data optimization.
From SAP S/4HANA, waySuite receives master data for materials and work centers, routings, bills of materials, planned orders, production orders, sales orders, purchase orders, project structures, inventory, and confirmations. Optimized dates, sequences, capacity assignments, planned order changes, and rescheduling proposals are sent back to SAP.
waySCI is offered as a subscription that includes release compatibility and updates. valantic handles the implementation. This makes integration and operating costs predictable, and you have one point of contact for both the interface and waySuite.
