Manual and exploratory tests are always recommended when complex, individual processes in the user journey, new features or changes to the user interface require human testing. Typical scenarios:
- Features and technical components cannot be tested automatically, or only to a limited extent.
- New features or changes to the user interface (UI) require visual and/or functional testing.
- Processes and test cases should be validated by initial tests before automation.
- Real user behavior should be evaluated through usability or acceptance tests.
- Test automation is not worthwhile for one-off or infrequent workflows.
- After major system updates or integrations, it should be ensured that processes continue to function properly.
