The electronics service provider Variosystems has taken its international recruiting processes to a new level with valantic in just seven weeks. The cloud-based platform SmartRecruiters for SAP SuccessFactors streamlines cross-border recruitment, provides integrated AI capabilities, and paves the way for consistent, intelligent HR digitization.
Challenge
Variosystems wanted to make its international recruiting processes more efficient and consistent, while also addressing country-specific requirements. SmartRecruiters for SAP SuccessFactors provided the ideal foundation for this and, as a cloud solution, was up and running in just seven weeks.
Consulting approach
Given the short project timeline, valantic opted for a pragmatic approach: Instead of spending time on extensive design phases, the team incorporated proven recruiting processes and experience-based standards directly into the system configuration. This ensured a timely go-live, including the rollout across five national subsidiaries.
Customer benefits
With SmartRecruiters, Variosystems has a state-of-the-art, scalable, cross-border recruiting platform. This platform specifically supports the company’s HR transformation and can be intelligently expanded through integrated AI features as well as integration with SAP Business AI and other AI solutions.
The history of Swiss-based Variosystems AG is truly one of a kind: What began in 1993 as a three-person operation in a small workshop in Steinach has since grown into a global Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider with over 2,800 employees and revenue exceeding 300 million Swiss francs (326 million euros).
The key to its success: Variosystems supports customers in the aerospace, medical technology, industrial, and smart infrastructure sectors from the initial idea through to mass production. This sets Variosystems apart from traditional electronics manufacturers.
For this full-service EMS provider, customer focus is literally at the heart of its mission. With its global network of locations, the EMS service provider reliably keeps its finger on the pulse of its customers’ markets at all times.
Specialists in electronics, IT, and project management are in high demand—and few and far between. Variosystems AG is well aware of this. The full-service provider of electronics manufacturing services, headquartered in Steinach, Switzerland, has been pursuing a sustainable growth strategy for years. In 2026, the company was recognized for this achievement for the fourth time as part of Deloitte’s global Best Managed Companies program.
Recruiting is a top priority not only for the Swiss headquarters but also for the company’s subsidiaries. To efficiently manage recruiting processes across countries, the company decided in early 2026 to consolidate the existing decentralized, siloed solutions in Switzerland, Germany, Romania, Croatia, and Sri Lanka onto a unified platform and had already set its sights on SmartRecruiters. Time was of the essence, as the company wanted to ensure a seamless transition from the previous solution to the new one.
Thanks to the close and intensive collaboration between Variosystems’ global project management team and valantic, we were able to strike a balance between a short project timeline and country-specific customization.
The implementation was anything but straightforward: The goal was to develop a common framework for all recruiting processes across the five target countries without losing sight of individual regional requirements.
Another challenge was that while some SmartRecruiters features were already on the roadmap, they were not yet functional at the start of the project. For example, the platform’s limited multilingual capabilities required innovative solutions for localization.
To support the scheduling of job interviews and strengthen the employer brand, it was also necessary to integrate Outlook, adjust the DNS configuration, develop the company’s own sender addresses, and implement custom branding and country-specific communication templates.
To meet the ambitious timeline despite the many challenges, valantic skipped traditional discovery phases and relied instead on its own experience.
The plan worked: Thanks to the in-house best-practice concept, full pre-configuration, and clear decision recommendations, the international recruiting platform went live right on schedule on May 28, 2026.
Modern recruiting platform with built-in AI features
Short project duration
Standardized recruiting, including country-specific variations
A consistent, modern candidate experience
A solid foundation for data-driven recruiting
Automatic import of open positions from SAP SuccessFactors
Reducing manual tasks
High user acceptance due to intuitive operation
Scalable for the future expansion of the HR IT landscape
Today, Variosystems is winning over candidates from Switzerland, Germany, Romania, Croatia, and Sri Lanka with a consistent, modern applicant experience. This strengthens the Swiss company’s employer brand. Once the integration with SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central is fully implemented, open positions and job postings will be automatically synchronized, manual tasks will be reduced, and the workload on recruiting teams will be noticeably lightened.
In addition, SmartRecruiters helps position recruitment as a strategic, future-proof function and drive the end-to-end digitization of international HR processes in a targeted manner.
Further expansion of the SAP HCM Suite is already planned; in the next step, the project team intends to address the areas of Employee Central rollout, learning, and performance & goals. “With SmartRecruiters, we’ve implemented a modern, international recruiting platform in a very short time,” summarizes Variosystems CIO André Bättig, explicitly praising the pragmatic approach and close collaboration with valantic in this context.
