Optimized data management with Viamedici EPIM and cloud technology

Afriso modernizes data management with Viamedici EPIM & Cloudinary

With modern cloud technology and innovative structures, Afriso relies on simple, flexible and future-oriented data management. In collaboration with valantic, the company is optimizing the management and structuring of over 8,000 articles with the help of Viamedici EPIM. The result: more efficient processes and greater flexibility.

Die AFRISO-Euro-Index GmbH

The challenge

An outdated data structure and nested processes made efficient management of the product data and adjustments by Afriso itself difficult.

Consulting approach

The project was implemented in two phases:

Phase I: Proof of Concept (PoC) to break down black box logic and nested processes.
Phase II: Revision of the entire playout structure and relocation of the PIM system to the cloud.

Customer benefits and solution

Flexibility in data maintenance and structure, integration of a modern CDN, and innovative approaches to the automated creation of data sheets for use in data exchange projects and on the website.

The challenge

Afriso has been using the Viamedici EPIM system for many years and was one of the first customers to rely on this solution. Over time, a large amount of data had accumulated, which was organized in an outdated structure. In addition, there were highly complex logic structures for displaying content on the website, which the client could not flexibly customize on their own.

As part of the project, a move was to be made from the on-premises solution to the cloud. At the same time, a new website was to be planned and implemented with another service provider. In addition, a content delivery network (CDN) from Cloudinary was to be integrated and the automatic generation of data sheets via the system was to be enabled.

In addition, the customer wanted to be able to define filter attributes directly in the PIM system in order to make them available to end customers on the website. The logic and the definition of the attributes were to take place entirely in the PIM system.

Consulting approach

The project was divided into two phases:

Phase I

In this phase, an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) was developed based on the existing structure in order to check whether the nested processes and black box logic could be resolved. This was realized through a proof of concept (PoC), while the new website was developed in parallel.

Phase II

Following the successful completion of the PoC, the entire playout structure was revised and adapted to the new requirements. The aim was to give the customer as much flexibility as possible after the restructuring so that they could make their own adjustments to the system.

Afriso

Results & benefits of the solution

By adapting the data structure, Afriso is now able to break down products to the level of individual articles. Previously, this was only possible as an overview at product level. The new structure also offers the flexibility to perform product combinations without having to implement additional logic.

Another advantage is the integration of a modern content delivery network (CDN) from Cloudinary, which future-proofs AFRISO and ensures the fast and reliable provision of content. This will take place in parallel with the restructuring and migration to the new cloud system.

Solution approach and key results:

  • Breaking down nested processes and black box logic through a proof of concept (PoC).
  • Moving the PIM system from on-premises to the cloud.
  • Integration of a content delivery network (CDN) from Cloudinary for future-proof and high-performance content.
  • Possibility to break down products down to item level and combine them flexibly.
