The integrated planning solution APOLLO enables the seamless connection of different areas, promotes collaboration within the team, and ensures accurate and timely decision-making. Increase efficiency, effectiveness, and speed in your planning process!
Many companies face similar challenges in business planning: Operational, strategic, and financial planning are often conducted in isolated systems, and there are no clearly defined and coordinated planning processes. But how can companies reduce planning effort and integrate modern planning approaches such as predictive planning and forecasting? How can data silos be eliminated?
The number of solutions for integrated planning, corporate performance management, and connected planning is skyrocketing, and this topic is high on the list of short-term investments for most companies. There are two clear reasons for this:
To remain competitive, all companies, regardless of their size, industry, or orientation, must plan ahead.
Here are the questions people ask:
All relevant information is available in one place at the touch of a button
Examining company planning processes reveals that relevant decisions can only be made when all necessary information is available. The various divisions are in constant interaction: Sales needs information from production, controlling from purchasing, and HR from different specialist areas. Therefore, it is crucial to provide planning information in a secure and accessible way, as this is the only way to eliminate data silos. At the same time, following authorization structures is essential.
However, the capabilities of most planning solutions end with the ability to provide a compelling user experience and simple planning structures, while ensuring meaningful reporting and integrating forecasting functionality. This is exactly what the integrated planning solution APOLLO can do.
With APOLLO, all ACTUAL and PLANNED data, top-down targets and bottom-up plans, and other parameters can be combined in one place. This enables companies to change their operational or strategic planning with the push of a button and compare different scenarios and their impact on business success. As a result, all planning stakeholders can use APOLLO to select the optimal planning scenario, expedite controlling processes, and collaborate more effectively within the company. Reporting (optionally IBCS-compliant reporting) is already available with the basic license.
APOLLO is an integrated planning solution that enhances IBM Planning Analytics with Watson (TM1): It’s a powerful, multidimensional database system for complex OLAP applications. For years, IBM Planning Analytics with Watson has provided ultimate performance and reliability, so the solution is based on the best that the market has to offer.
APOLLO includes all standard functions that CFOs require: Planning, reporting, analysis, and consolidation. It offers special functions for control and optimization, such as workflows, cockpits, prediction, and optimization. It can be implemented cheaply, quickly, and yet tailored to your company.
This planning solution paves the way for companies to integrated, strategic, and operational planning, accurate reporting, predictions, and analyses. Additional modules, such as cost control, supply chain management (SCM), goal-setting simulations, and planning optimization, can be booked flexibly and quickly, tailored to the customer’s needs and wishes. The additional modules can be used easily and intuitively with a mouse click via an integrated user interface.

Maximum flexibility: All modules can be combined at will
All planning areas are modular and can therefore be extended to meet any requirement at any time. The pre-built business content in each module significantly reduces project risk and project turnaround times. Of course, individual planning modules can also be integrated.
Here is an overview of the APOLLO modules for all planning, strategic, and operational tasks. The basic license includes the P&L & Reporting module, as well as IBM Planning Analytics.
Standard front end
With its web front end, APOLLO makes it possible to combine different technologies into a single application.
Each page is divided into nine areas that can be controlled via the sidebar and menus. Part of a web application can be displayed in each of these nine areas: E.g., a table view of Planning Analytics Web, a report, a structure maintenance page, or any other web page.
Example of a configured APOLLO page
The APOLLO base module contains technical components such as the database server and the web front end. As a technical component, APOLLO Base contains the P&L and workflow status.
Detailed workflows can be configured with the APOLLO workflow. This allows you to control your planning process very specifically.
The Sales Control module maps sales and revenue planning. There is an integrated set of rules for prices, quantities, revenues, expenses, proceeds, etc. Products, customers, further distinctions, and calculation logic can be supplemented by departmental users. The KPIs of P&L are derived automatically.
With the APOLLO Forecasting module, you can use artificial intelligence (AI) to calculate forecasts. These functions are often used in sales volume forecasting.
The APOLLO SCM Control module allows you to derive production planning from planned or forecasted sales volumes. Planned production volumes are derived based on sales volumes and broken down via parts lists and work plans. Requirements are compared with available capacities. This allows you to analyze bottlenecks.
Adjustments to the production plan have an ad hoc effect on the bottleneck analysis. This allows you to quickly simulate and create the optimal production plan.
The requirements determined in SCM planning are supplemented with warehouse and inventory planning using the Material & Merchandise module. With the Material & Merchandise module, you can simulate warehouse stocks in an integrated manner, enabling you to identify bottlenecks or excess stocks at an early stage and initiate countermeasures.
The APOLLO Cost Control module includes cost center planning: primary costs, secondary costs via internal cost allocation or apportionment calculation. The planning of annual values is seasonalized over the months using distribution keys. The results of cost center planning are forwarded to P&L planning. For this purpose, the cost types are assigned to the P&L items. This assignment can be stored individually for each planning occasion. This allows you to model different relationships.
With the APOLLO HR Control module, APOLLO enables employee-specific planning of personnel costs. Depending on the level of detail and complexity of the planning, APOLLO offers module sizes S, M, and L.
Existing fixed assets and newly planned investments are planned using the APOLLO Invest Control module. Depreciation from asset accounting is transferred from the ERP system. Planners can add new investments. APOLLO automatically calculates the impact of investments on P&L, cost center planning, balance sheet, and cash flow.
The values from all modules are fed into the Balance Control module. It contains both the balance sheet and the cash flow calculation. In addition to connectors to P&L, investment planning, and financing planning, the balance sheet also features payment target logic for the detailed application of DSO and DPO parameters. The individual values in the balance sheet can be traced using the balance sheet detective. Automated balance sheet reconciliation with exchange account logic facilitates planning.
