Salesforce Security: Why continuous measures are critical

Security breaches and system vulnerabilities are no longer rare exceptions. In fact, recent cyberattacks have affected not only Salesforce customers but companies across the SaaS landscape. This doesn’t make Salesforce insecure — it highlights the need for ongoing configuration, review, and governance.

Salesforce provides the platform, the tools, and the infrastructure. But you — the customer — are responsible for how it’s configured, what apps are connected, and how data access is managed.

That’s where your Salesforce partner comes in.

New Salesforce Security Updates Coming in 2025

In September 2025, Salesforce is introducing two major changes that highlight the importance of security hygiene:

  1. Restricted Use of Uninstalled Connected Apps
    • New permission: “Approve Uninstalled Connected Apps” will be required to authorize any app that isn’t installed via AppExchange.
    • Admins must proactively manage which apps are trusted and remove unused access.
  2. End of OAuth 2.0 Device Flow in Data Loader
    • Starting September 2, 2025, the OAuth device flow will be deprecated for Data Loader.
    • Users must switch to password authentication or OAuth Web Server Flow.
