SC Organization

The basis for a high-performance supply chain

Many companies have considerable potential for effectiveness in the organizational design of supply chain management (SCM) and its integration into the company. However, an appropriate SCM organization can often enable the next stage in the overall optimization of the supply chain. The following criteria can be used to differentiate between different organizational variants for anchoring supply chain management:

Formalization

The extent to which organizational rules and the performance of individual units are recorded in writing

Centralization

Distribution of decision-making authority within the company (centralized vs. decentralized decision-making)

Hierarchy

Arrangement of an organizational unit in the company’s organizational chart (management level vs. downstream levels)

Based on these criteria, tailor-made organizational solutions can be developed depending on the specific requirements of a company. These vary depending on the level of development and performance as well as the respective possibilities within the company. We support you in optimally designing the process and organizational structure of your supply chain and integrating it into your company in order to make the best possible use of performance potential.

SC People

Your key to sustainable success in SCM

Supply chain management personnel have to meet very specific requirements. In particular, employees must have strong analytical and conceptual skills, a high level of problem-solving expertise and as many years of practical experience as possible in order to deliver outstanding performance. A differentiated personnel policy in the area of supply chain management can therefore achieve significant competitive advantages.

Through our systematic optimization process, we support you in making the best possible personnel decisions for your supply chain and in building a sustainable personnel structure with both talented and experienced employees.

The focus here is primarily on the organic further development of existing teams. If necessary, tailor-made job profiles can be developed for this purpose in order to do justice to the individual strengths of existing staff. If you have an acute need, we can also provide you with temporary support through high-quality interim management.

How do we go about optimizing your SCM organization and your personnel management?

Supply Chain Organization

  1. 1

Defining the scope of the investigation and coordinating the procedure

First, the project objectives are agreed and the departments and processes relevant to the project are defined. In addition, interview partners are selected for the company status survey and the project organization and project communication are coordinated.

  2. 2

Analysis and evaluation of the current situation

In the second step, interviews are conducted to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the company’s current organizational and operational structure. In addition, the organizational status is benchmarked against suitable companies. Based on this, starting points for optimizing the organizational structure are identified and prioritized.

  3. 3

Derivation of organizational options and recommendations

Suitable organizational options and recommendations are derived from the results of the second step. In addition, both the new organizational structure and the associated processes to be designed are roughly defined.

  4. 4

    Conception of coordinated measures

In the final step, selected target processes are designed and coordinated in detail based on the new organizational structure.

Personnel management

  1. 1

    Analysis of existing qualifications

First, the current personnel situation in the supply chain areas is analyzed and documented. Interviews and best-practice benchmarking are used to identify weaknesses in terms of employee qualifications and needs-based staffing. Requirements for the future personnel structure in SCM are derived from this.

  2. 2

Conception of measures to cover identified needs

The second step is to examine which measures should be considered to meet the defined requirements. Training or coaching programs can be designed for existing staff. If external recruiting is necessary, job advertisements are prepared. If there are also acute staff shortages, we develop proposals for interim management by valantic employees.

  3. 3

    Covering personnel requirements

We also provide you with comprehensive support during implementation. On the one hand, our experienced consultants carry out the necessary training and coaching programs. On the other hand, we actively support the external recruiting process by reviewing application documents, conducting interviews and assessment centers and recommending suitable candidates. This is supplemented by the intensive training of the new supply chain managers in their respective area of responsibility. In the case of interim management, your vacant positions are temporarily filled by excellent valantic personnel.
