What is Data Protection?

Data protection encompasses legal and regulatory requirements that pursue a common goal: to protect people’s privacy from unauthorized access from outside. Comprehensive data protection takes into account the fact that such access can come from both private and public authorities.

Especially in times of increasing digitalization, data protection is becoming more and more important. As networking continues to grow, potential areas of attack and risks are constantly increasing. However, data protection does not only mean protection against external threats, but also protection against careless handling of one’s own data. Data protection mishaps often occur because people pass on their own data too uncritically to insecure or dubious providers.
