Data protection management system (DPMS)

What is a data protection management system?

A data protection management system (DPMS) is an organizational and technical framework that companies and organizations can use to systematically implement and control the protection of personal data. It comprises all processes, guidelines and measures that are necessary to comply with the requirements of data protection laws, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What tasks does a DPMS perform?

The aim of a DPMS is to identify data protection risks at an early stage, define suitable protective measures and regularly review their effectiveness. This includes managing consents, documenting processing activities, carrying out risk analyses, reporting data protection incidents to the supervisory authorities and training employees.

A well-functioning DPMS makes a significant contribution to preventing data protection breaches, protecting the rights of data subjects and strengthening the trust of customers, partners and employees.
