What is Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN)?

Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) is a graphical specification language used to describe business processes, workflows, and procedures.

Until the release of version 2.0 by the Object Management Group (OMG) in January 2011, BPMN was still referred to as Business Process Modeling Notation. The current version of the BPMN standard, BPMN 2.0, is a graphical specification language used in process management. Among other things, BPMN provides symbols that can be used to model and document business processes and workflows.
