”The system is very user-friendly. It enables the scheduling and personnel planning of house construction and provides a platform for managing and processing all associated tasks, as well as for creating the documents needed for production and assembly. Misplanning, media disruptions, and communication efforts have been significantly reduced.“

The challenge

A key challenge in prefabricated house construction lies in the precise planning of house assembly and the coordination of all involved trades – both internal teams and subcontractors. At WeberHaus, this involves over 700 construction projects annually, with approximately 260 being planned simultaneously. Additionally, customer service operations, with around 4,500 tasks per year, must also be scheduled. In 2022, WeberHaus sought a modern alternative to its previous scheduling control center.

The goals

More efficient workflows

Reduced media disruptions

Future-proof scheduling solution

WeberHaus new building in the construction phase

Unconventional yet highly successful

Although valantic’s S&OP software waySuite originally specialized in production planning and had no specific references in the construction industry, WeberHaus was convinced by the planning software approach of the consulting company. After an extended preparation phase, the project began in April 2024. Just one year later, the system was successfully implemented at the Rheinau-Linx and Wenden-Hünsborn sites.

Successful integration of waySuite into SAP

Together, the teams from valantic and WeberHaus managed to establish a modern, integrated software foundation for assembly and customer service scheduling. The core of the new solution is the project management software wayPRO, a module of the planning software suite waySuite. Through a certified interface, wayPRO is integrated into WeberHaus’s existing SAP landscape. While waySuite and its project planning module are typically used in manufacturing and supply chain planning for industrial companies, this project impressively demonstrates the software’s flexibility: At WeberHaus, the leading manufacturer of prefabricated timber frame houses, wayPRO, with some extensions, now serves as the central scheduling control center.

Custom extensions

The solution includes personnel scheduling, extensive automation of correspondence, and secure, seamless communication with the SAP ERP system, which serves as the primary data source. Using the wayEXT module (wayExtensions), which allows external software and databases to be integrated, valantic developed a scheduling control center for assembly and customer service.

Efficient coordination of complex assembly processes

Typically, valantic supports companies in managing supply chain operations and complex dependencies in production planning. However, the challenges in this case arose from coordinating assembly, which is weather-dependent and requires various trades to contribute in the correct sequence. Additionally, the spatial and temporal planning of multiple construction sites was a new aspect for valantic to integrate. By incorporating route planning, weather information, and hotel bookings via wayEXT, tradespeople’s appointments with customers can be planned down to the last detail. Furthermore, site managers on construction sites receive real-time updates on all relevant data from the assembly scheduling system via the valantic wayCloud Platform. A system originally designed to inform external suppliers was transformed into a dynamic and user-friendly information source for on-site managers.

700 construction projects planned with waySuite

Over 700 construction projects have already been successfully planned using the waySuite. The work of skilled trades from various fields, such as assemblers, screed layers, plasterers, painters, electricians, installers, and carpenters, is precisely coordinated. The planning tool allows workflows to be adjusted flexibly and at short notice – for example, when weather-related delays require changes to the construction schedule. Dashboards, such as those for scaffolding usage times, ensure that planners can easily keep track of details. SAP always serves as the data foundation and is bidirectionally connected to the waySuite.
