Rügenwalder Mühle addressed the growing complexity of its supply chain with a structural and technological realignment. In cooperation with valantic, a central SCM organization was established, a standardized S&OP process was introduced and control was improved through automated reporting. The result: more transparency, better planning and noticeable efficiency gains along the entire value chain.
Rügenwalder Mühle is a food manufacturer with a focus on meat and plant-based alternatives. Together with valantic, the supply chain management was restructured. Through the development of a cross-divisional planning process, the optimization of inventory and production control and the introduction of digital performance reports. The measures led to a sustainable professionalization and improved controllability of all SCM activities.
The challenge
With the expansion of the product portfolio to include meat alternatives, the complexity of the value chain at Rügenwalder Mühle increased considerably. In addition, SCM tasks were highly fragmented and decentralized, making efficient management difficult. Another problem was the lack of IT support and the absence of an automated KPI system for process control.

Solution and customer benefits
In the course of the cooperation with valantic, Rügenwalder Mühle established an independent organizational unit for supply chain management. The planning processes were systematically further developed on the basis of detailed process analyses and well-founded benchmarks. The introduction of automated KPI reporting and a standardized S&OP process increased transparency and improved operational control. In addition, inventories and production resources were controlled in a more targeted manner – with measurable success.
Conclusion
By realigning its supply chain structures and using digitally supported control mechanisms, Rügenwalder Mühle has created the basis for lean, agile and resilient processes. The integrated view of planning, production and warehousing sustainably strengthens the company’s resilience and performance.
