Get to know usA central experience platform for the entire region
Schladming-Dachstein brings together six experience centers, ten cable cars, and numerous partners. To bundle this diversity digitally, valantic developed a scalable multi-portal framework that unites the destination, service providers, and systems. The platform seamlessly connects inspiration, information, and booking, forming the digital backbone of one of Austria’s strongest tourism regions.
Three cable car companies, one tourism association, different interests, and a legacy system landscape. Schladming-Dachstein needed a digital foundation that would bring this diversity together and point the way forward.
The starting point was a historically grown digital landscape with several independent websites, different system versions, and a wide range of requirements from the partners involved. At the same time, there was a clear ambition to create a shared digital presence that would leverage synergies and, above all, unite the region strategically.
The challenge was to bring all key stakeholders into a shared framework and create a future-proof foundation – with the first go-lives just a few months after the project kicked off.
The solution.
valantic chose a shared framework approach that deliberately leverages synergies while preserving each partner’s independence. The new platform is based on state-of-the-art Pimcore and front-end technology and was developed consistently with a mobile-first mindset. The scalable multi-portal architecture allows for seamless expansion to additional areas in the future – without structural breaks or design inconsistencies.
From a technical perspective, legacy systems were replaced, interfaces harmonized, and the complexity of the existing landscape sustainably reduced. The result is a forward-looking solution with a completely new, user-centered design approach and a dynamic experience and content concept that guides guests through all four seasons – inspiring, informative, and intuitive all the way through to booking.
The strengths.
The platform stands out for its high level of innovation:
One of the key strengths is the AI-powered Form Builder: Customers can create forms with flexible FieldTypes and validations directly in the CMS. Thanks to AI, forms can even be generated from prompts – a significant gain in efficiency for day-to-day operations.
This combination of data intelligence, UX design, and technological depth sets new standards in alpine tourism.
The client.
Schladming-Dachstein is one of Austria’s leading tourism regions. With ten cable cars, six adventure centers, and numerous partner businesses, it offers visitors a strong and diverse range of experiences across all four seasons. The region stands for alpine quality, genuine hospitality, and authentic Austrian experiences.
The new website gives the region a consistent, modern digital identity – clear, inspiring, and consistently user-centered.
The collaboration.
The collaboration was characterized by openness, mutual respect, and strong discipline on all sides. During an intensive concept phase, different project stages were aligned and harmonized, with strategic guidance from netzvitamine GmbH. The early go-lives of the cable car operators – Planai, Reiteralm, and Hauser-Kaibling – marked important milestones and confirmed the robustness of the framework.
Regular check-ins, clear SteerCo formats, and targeted breakout sessions enabled a coordinated approach across all stakeholders.
The goal.
The primary goal was to digitally unite the region’s key stakeholders. A shared brand presence, a modernized technical setup, and the development of a sustainable, scalable framework were at the heart of the project.
The overarching vision: to create a benchmark in alpine tourism that brings together design, technology, and experience – and strengthens the region’s digital competitiveness in the long term.
The results.
The project has brought forth a modern platform designed for growth:
Multi-tenant framework
Central platform for the tourism destination and cable car companies, modularly expandable.
System integration
Pimcore as the core system, connected with Feratel, Incert, and other partners.
AI Form Builder
Flexible, accessible forms with automatic validation and AI-based generation.
Customer profile with SSO & loyalty
A seamless login for booking, customer club, and rewards program.
Digital asset management
Pimcore Enterprise Edition with the Asset Experience Portal used as the digital asset management platform.
The framework continues to grow. New portals, additional features, and AI-based services are already on the roadmap.
The project was designed between August and December 2024 and implemented from January to November 2025. The long-standing partnership between Schladming-Dachstein and valantic – working with the cable car operators since 2014 and with the region since 2003 – provides a strong foundation for the digital future.
