About the company

RAIN Carbon is a leading global manufacturer of chemical products with over 1,500 employees and a turnover of more than 1.5 billion euros. In an international project with valantic, potential savings in indirect procurement were identified and realized. In twelve pilot initiatives, significant savings were achieved within six months and the basis for strategically oriented, international procurement management was created.

The project

The challenge

RAIN Carbon manages production sites on three continents. Indirect procurement was previously organized on a decentralized basis – with a lack of coordination between the countries and high efficiency potential. Previous attempts at international procurement cooperation were unsuccessful. The aim was to exploit international synergies, achieve significant savings and prepare a global procurement strategy.

Global pilot projects and accompanying measures led to savings in the high seven-figure range within a short space of time. Double-digit savings rates were achieved in relevant product groups. In addition, training, coaching and a strategic realignment created the basis for a coordinated procurement structure.
