About the company

Logo von Peter Lacke

Peter Lacke is a leading manufacturer of paints and varnishes with an international customer structure and over 120 employees. Together with valantic, the order lot sizes of all procurement items were analyzed and optimized. The goal was to define cost-optimized order quantities based on all relevant cost factors and thus significantly reduce process costs in procurement.

The project

The challenge

The existing order lot sizes at Peter Lacke were not based on a total cost approach. Neither price scales nor ordering, storage or capital costs were systematically taken into account. The aim was to determine a cost-optimized order quantity for all procurement items and thus create a sound basis for decision-making for operational procurement.

Consulting approach

  1. Analysis of procurement items and cost items
  • Systematic survey of all relevant costs per item: Price scales, storage, ordering and capital costs
  • Structured preparation of the data for further calculation
  1. Calculation of optimal order quantities
  • Integrated evaluation of general and customer-specific factors
  • Identification of cost-optimized quantities per item
  1. Alignment and implementation recommendations
  • Comparison with customer restrictions
  • Preparation of the results for operational procurement for practical implementation
