Supplier management according to LkSG

Legally compliant management system at Lapp

valantic supported Lapp in setting up a supplier and risk management system. Process analyses, clear evaluation standards and an IT roadmap resulted in a practical model for fulfilling regulatory requirements and strengthening procurement control.

About the company

Lapp is a leading international supplier of cable and connection technology with over 3,800 employees and an annual turnover of more than 1.5 billion euros. Together with valantic, a supplier and risk management system was designed that both covers the requirements of the German Supply Chain Sustainability Act (LkSG) and lays the foundations for a sustainable procurement strategy. The core of the project was a comprehensive status check, a clear risk focus and an IT roadmap for sustainable process anchoring.

The project

The challenge

As a global technology leader in the field of cable systems, Lapp is pursuing ambitious growth targets. However, the existing supplier structure and the lack of systematization in supplier management did not meet strategic requirements or legal requirements such as the Supply Chain Act. There was also a lack of transparency, standardized processes and the use of modern risk management tools.

Consulting approach

1. Analysis of the initial situation

  • Collection of existing supplier and risk management information
  • Carrying out a spend cube analysis for data transparency
  • Interviews with procurement and relevant departments

2. Benchmarking and risk analysis

  • Evaluation of the current level of performance in supplier management
  • Prioritization of human rights risks at country, product group and supplier level

3. Design of the supplier and risk management system

  • Conducting workshops on supplier selection, evaluation and development
  • Creation of process documentation and implementation aids
  • Definition of interfaces and development of an IT roadmap
