About the company

Vetter logo

Vetter Pharma is a German Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) for pharmaceutical products. The company employs over 5,700 people and has an annual turnover of more than 840 million euros. Together with valantic, a future-oriented Supplier Risk Management (SRM) was developed. The aim was to develop a resilient and efficient SRM model based on external sources, benchmarking and best practices – tailored to current industry and customer requirements.

The project

The challenge

As a result of global crises, pandemics and natural disasters, the resilience of the supply chain also came into focus at Vetter Pharma. The existing SRM process was no longer sufficiently aligned with customer needs and market developments. Further development was necessary in order to counter potential risks at an early stage and to meet regulatory requirements. It was also intended to help the company position itself strategically in the market.

Consulting approach

1. Analysis of the current state and GAP analysis

  • Investigation of existing risks, data structures and product portfolios
  • Conducting best practice interviews and SRM benchmarking
  • Systematic GAP analysis along all relevant SRM dimensions
  • Moderation of coordination workshops for requirements validation

2. Design of a holistic SRM model

  • Development of efficient operating models for managing supplier risks
  • Integration of internal and external KPIs for risk assessment
  • Definition of preventive and reactive action plans
  • Design of clear roles, responsibilities and communication channels
