About the company

Tegut..._logo

tegut… is a German retail company with around 6,000 employees and an annual turnover of one billion euros. In a project with valantic, procurement conditions, processes and revenues from recyclable materials in the area of waste management were analyzed and specifically optimized. The result: sustainable savings potential in the mid six-figure range per year and a significant reduction in administrative costs.

The project

The challenge

With a purchasing volume in the high single-digit million range, tegut… organized the waste disposal for over 124 supermarket branches, two logistics centers and other locations centrally. The long-standing cooperation with nine different waste disposal service providers was characterized by complexity, different responsibilities and potential for process and cost optimization. The aim was to improve purchasing conditions, recycling revenues and processes.

Consulting approach

1. Analysis of the existing service provider structure

  • Evaluation of the contracts with 9 waste disposal partners
  • Identification of bundling potential and overlaps

2. Optimization of revenue and cost structures

  • Tendering of recyclables marketing and branch waste disposal
  • Definition of more economical collection and container concepts (e.g. double-chamber vehicles)

3. Process simplification and implementation

  • Conversion to a consolidated service provider model
  • Reduction of administrative effort through centralized control

Solutions & results in detail

By realigning the waste disposal structure, tegut… was able to save several hundred thousand euros a year. This was achieved by combining collection vehicles, adapting container concepts and reducing the number of service providers. At the same time, revenues from the marketing of recyclable materials increased significantly.

Conclusion

With valantic, tegut… has created a sustainable waste management system. The new structure relieves the company in the long term – both financially and administratively – and strengthens the sustainability of logistics processes.
