Optimized infrastructure spending

Transparent cost analysis at Dyneon

Dyneon was confronted with annually increasing infrastructure costs at the Gendorf Chemical Park – with limited influence on the underlying pricing. Together with valantic, the complex pricing formulas were analyzed, transparency was created and measures for a fairer distribution of costs were derived.

About the company

Dyneon logo colored

Dyneon is a manufacturer of chemical products with over 500 employees and an annual turnover of more than 200 million euros. Together with valantic, the company analyzed the price formulas for infrastructure services at the Gendorf Chemical Park site. The focus was on validating plausibility, providing a transparent breakdown of the calculation logic, and developing concrete measures to achieve a more balanced cost allocation.

The project

The challenge

Dyneon invested heavily in the Chemiepark Gendorf (CPG) site and, like more than 30 other companies, relied on the park’s central site operator. The costs for infrastructure services rose at an above-average rate every year. Due to the complex and opaque pricing formula, the costs could hardly be monitored or controlled. The aim was to create transparency and lay the foundations for well-founded negotiations with the operator.

Consulting approach

1. Analysis of the current situation

  • Review and evaluation of contracts, invoices and cost developments
  • Validation of the pricing formula and explanation of individual components

2. Structuring of services and identification of optimization levers

  • Classification of infrastructure services by cost type
  • Development of optimization approaches through reassessment of relevant reference parameters (e.g. area instead of number of employees)

3. Development of concrete action recommendations

  • Creation of an action plan for fairer cost allocation
  • Design of change options to prepare for strategic discussions with the site operator
Dyneon Consulting Approach

Solutions & results in detail

Through a systematic analysis, valantic created transparency about the composition and development of infrastructure costs. The price formula was broken down in a comprehensible manner and alternative valuation approaches were developed. A structured negotiation guide summarized concrete options for discussions with the site operator.

Conclusion

Together with valantic, Dyneon was able to create a transparent, fair and controllable basis for the infrastructure services. The understanding gained and the recommendations developed strengthen the negotiating position in the long term.
