Seepex GmbH
SEEPEX GmbH is modernizing production planning together with the supply chain experts from valantic. By optimizing supply chain processes and implementing the advanced planning & scheduling (APS) software wayRTS at the company headquarters in Bottrop, the company has already reduced throughput and delivery times and increased planning quality significantly. Subsequently, wayRTS was successfully implemented for the planning of stator production at the US plant in Enon, Ohio. Additional projects, e.g. in Shanghai, are to follow.
Better processes, shorter throughput and delivery times – worldwide
In collaboration with valantic, SEEPEX GmbH is revitalizing its production planning. The optimization of supply chain operations and the deployment of the advanced planning & scheduling (APS) software wayRTS at its Bottrop headquarters have led to notable reductions in throughput and delivery times, as well as a substantial enhancement in planning accuracy. Following these improvements, the wayRTS system was also effectively rolled out for stator production planning at the U.S. facility in Enon, Ohio. Plans are underway to extend such advancements to other locations, including a project slated for Shanghai.
The results at a glance
Transparent realistic scheduling and capacity planning with wayRTS (Real Time Simulation)
The delivery reliability of the SEEPEX Bottrop plant almost doubled
New planning organization for centralized rough and detailed planning
The complex planning at the Enon, Ohio plant was mapped in waySuite
The new tool planning component of wayRTS reflects the complex restrictions of tool, machine, and raw material planning.
The initial situation
The decisive factors for the project with valantic were SEEPEX’s delivery reliability issues. Required dates and capacity loads were often unrealistic, and the really critical deadlines were not transparent. The complex SAP method for order planning, material planning, and scheduling did not plan production capacities effectively. Tools based on Excel could not improve the situation either. In order to increase delivery reliability, a planning department should take over order planning and control of component and pump production using a central tool.
In stator production at the US branch in Enon, Ohio, there was also a lot of potential in modernizing the planning tools. The concern here was to master highly complex production processes for tool, machine, and raw material planning with various restrictions. In connection with the company’s supply chain, it was also a matter of optimizing transparency for global demand planning.
First project for pump production
The collaboration between SEEPEX and valantic began with the introduction of a central tool for planning and controlling the order and production level of component and pump production at the Bottrop plant. Today, customer orders can be planned realistically and according to the desired date, bottlenecks in the order network can be visualized, and solutions simulated.
valantic’s process and IT consulting experts implemented the advanced planning & scheduling (APS) software wayRTS (Real Time Simulation), which replaced inadequate planning with Excel and SAP. The pump specialist’s planning organization was rearranged, the processes and transparency for all parties involved in orders optimized further.
Follow-up projects
An important goal for modernizing the processes in stator production was the complete mapping of all process, master data, and feedback actions in SAP. After SEEPEX had achieved this, valantic was commissioned again to introduce wayRTS as a central planning tool. In view of the complex restrictions on tool and machine capacities, a “tool planning” was developed jointly in wayRTS, one where planners now carry out the capacity calculation for production aids as well as raw material planning.
The next step is the pump and component plant in Shanghai. Here the hope is to introduce a planning organization that is similar to the one in the main plant in Bottrop and also waySuite.
