SAP Yard Logistics is available in two variants – as an add-on for S/4HANA Enterprise Management and as a stand-alone S/4HANA application connected to an S/4HANA Enterprise Management or a legacy ERP system.

SAP EWM Yard Management vs. SAP Yard Logistics

SAP Yard Management is an integrated component of SAP EWM for managing yards with simpler processes and fewer integrative capabilities. Yard management can map incoming and outgoing vehicles and transport units. The yard movements are mapped as warehouse tasks. The monitoring is done via the warehouse management monitor in SAP EWM. There is no graphical visualization of the yard and its processes.

SAP EWM Yard Management versus SAP Yard Logistics

SAP Yard Logistics, on the other hand, follows the plan-execute-monitor approach and provides a significantly greater range of functions. Highly integrative and automated scenarios combined with SAP TM, SAP EWM, SAP LBN, and SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling are only possible with SAP Yard Logistics and are suitable for highly frequented high-volume yards that require active control. IoT scenarios such as control of display boards, use of self-check-in and self-check-out terminals, and supported driver communication are also only possible with SAP Yard Logistics.
