Efficient and integrated control of transport processes on site
SAP Yard Logistics manages, controls, and simplifies transport processes and vehicles on plant premises (in the yard). Graphical layouts in 2D and 3D enable monitoring and visualization of the current situation on site. This provides complete transparency at all times with regard to all transport-relevant and goods-moving processes in the yard. The integration of SAP Yard Logistics into SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management), SAP TM (Transportation Management), and SAP LBN (Logistics Business Network) can eliminate manual processes and thus optimize logistics processes.
Mobile applications, self-check-in functions, and communication with drivers inside and outside the company via display boards or SMS dispatch reduce paper-based processes and simplify communication and decision-making for drivers, dispatchers, and security personnel.
SAP Yard Logistics is the missing puzzle piece between transport management (SAP TM) and SAP EWM for inbound and outbound processes.
SAP Yard Logistics is available in two variants – as an add-on for S/4HANA Enterprise Management and as a stand-alone S/4HANA application connected to an S/4HANA Enterprise Management or a legacy ERP system.
SAP Yard Management is an integrated component of SAP EWM for managing yards with simpler processes and fewer integrative capabilities. Yard management can map incoming and outgoing vehicles and transport units. The yard movements are mapped as warehouse tasks. The monitoring is done via the warehouse management monitor in SAP EWM. There is no graphical visualization of the yard and its processes.
SAP Yard Logistics, on the other hand, follows the plan-execute-monitor approach and provides a significantly greater range of functions. Highly integrative and automated scenarios combined with SAP TM, SAP EWM, SAP LBN, and SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling are only possible with SAP Yard Logistics and are suitable for highly frequented high-volume yards that require active control. IoT scenarios such as control of display boards, use of self-check-in and self-check-out terminals, and supported driver communication are also only possible with SAP Yard Logistics.
The granular provision of data and events also enables the calculation and analysis of corresponding KPIs to identify and eliminate weak points and continuously improve processes.
